“Full Power”

During the early development of the “Power Study” print, it became apparent that a fully unabridged presentation must also be made available. The “Full Power” print is the complete text of the original ratified U. S. Constitution from September 17, 1787 and all the amendments ratified thereafter on one 24” x 39” sheet.

“Power Study”

A thoroughly subjective 36” x 32” presentation of the powers the U. S. Constitution enumerates and appropriates to the three branches of the federal government. The text of the Constitution also articulates directives, rights, privileges, procedures and limits to the federal government, the States and the People.

The goal of this design was to consolidate and organize the original text by tagging the clause to the delegated owner.

About

The Company

GHAVHA design–located in Soldotna, Alaska and formed this year–is the production, marketing and retail sales entity for Greg Harsha’s original print designs. As a small business start-up, big plans have been imagined and a paltry working capital budget has been established, but at least Alaska ranks as one of the “worst” states to operate a business per CNBC and Forbes. Regardless, we are going to give it full effort.

Presently in its launch phase, we are hopeful that in time this section will become more interesting as GHAVHA design gains some history, in the mean time the company exists simply as this website, a small print room and a 8-1/2 by 11 inch piece of paper permitting us to be a business in Alaska.

The name, GHAVHA, is a pseudo-portmantologism of the abbreviated names of Greg and his wife, Vicki; but more importantly, it was the available web domain name after several attempts to secure a unique URL.

The Person

Greg has been an Alaskan since 1993 and has made it his home for all but three of those years. In those years, he has enjoyed careers in the oil-fields of the North Slope, as well as power line construction, bridge construction, mortgage lending, tug-boating and commercial diving in Southeast Alaska. He even bartended for a short time.

Greg helped Vicki raise her five wonderful children to varying degrees of success, and now as adults, the kids have provided 13 grandchildren with another on the way. The the family continues to grow after the very recent addition of a beautiful and perfect great-grandchild.

Greg’s artistic endeavors came to a decisive end after high school and remained dormant until recently.

Over the last few years, he attempted at least once to create an artistic reference poster, but it wasn’t until his idea to organize the distribution of U. S. Constitutional powers and craft it as a print that he was sincerely driven to deliver.

The Prints

If they can be considered “wall-art”, “info-graphics”, “compositions”, “products”, “useful art”, “posters” or any other applicable term, they are undeniably “prints”. The goal was–and is–to create and produce interesting, informational and visually appealing poster-sized prints, using high-quality ink and paper, entirely in the USA, with no third-party outsourcing.

The GHAVHA design start-up effort has taxed all of Greg’s spare time, and even though it has been creative in its own right, crafting the artwork is the far more enjoyable task. Greg is exited to get back to work on new print designs to add to the catalog.

Business Model

All production, fulfillment, administration and the creative facets of GHAVHA design are performed by Greg Harsha.

He even wrote this “About” section and was agonized by the use of the third-person narrative.

The endeavor is characterized by the American spirit, where a person can create and then market an idea in whatever form and by whatever lawful means they can conceive. With this model, it is to manufacture in-house as an example.

Acknowledgements

Certainly first and most importantly: Vicki, for her extreme criticism and her extreme support.

Nick, for these words: If you want to succeed, as bad as you want to breath–you’ll be successful. (A quote he remembered from his wrestling days.)

Leon Bubova – Web Developer, for his outstanding “minimalist” portfolio website, used as a template for this homepage.
